Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center is a 551-bed teaching and referral center located on Chicago’s north side. It is part of Advocate Health Care, one of the top health care systems in the country and the largest fully integrated health care delivery system in Illinois. More than 900 affiliated physicians are on staff; several physicians were named among the top American Doctors. The Center features numerous high-tech diagnostic and treatment resources. Advocate Illinois Masonic is also one of Chicago’s busiest emergency care sites and is designated a Level I Trauma Center.

Illinois Masonic Medical Center provides care for North Side Chicago multiethnic, multicultural, socially diversified population. Faculty is composed of outstanding clinicians with academic background skills and expertise covers all disciplines of surgery and many fields of scientific investigation. Structured daily educational conferences are considered a ground stone of the entire teaching program.

  • General Surgery services with a large volume of diversified cases, including hepatobiliary, pancreatic, colon, complex hernias, and breast
  • Advanced laparoscopic surgery, including bowel and solid organ resections, complex recurrent abdominal wall and inguinal hernia repairs
  • Level I Trauma Center and Electronic Surgical Intensive Care Unit and Critical Care Fellowship
  • Genito-Urinary Service, Experienced Cardiothoracic Vascular surgeons, as well as a neurosurgeons and Oncology Surgeons.
  • State of Art Endosuites, in O.R.
  • Surgical Skills Lab, including a Virtual Reality system and PROMIS simulator to learn and improve laparoscopic skills
  • Active surgical research that include collaboration with UIC (basic science lab) and our own research program (clinical studies, surgical education and surgical simulation research)
