Conferences

A variety of conferences and other educational activities are provided to augment the surgical experience. Some are held in common and afford the opportunity for residents at varying MGH sites to meet on a regular basis.

  • Weekly basic science conference
  • Weekly Morbidity and Mortality conference
  • Weekly critical care conference
  • Weekly radiology/pathology/oncology conference
  • Monthly surgical grand rounds with case presentations from each institution
  • Monthly mock orals for senior residents with all juniors in attendance
  • Monthly journal club
  • Quarterly visiting professor program

One PGY 3 resident spends one year in full-time research. He/She will then complete the clinical rotations of years 3, 4, and 5 during the fourth, fifth, and sixth years of residency training.
